How To Treat Face-Mask Skin Problems
Ahh, the dreaded mask acne, or ‘maskne’ and we so lovingly (!) call it.
Masks have become a part of our everyday lives. And so too have all the acne and skin issues that come along with mask use.
So many clients ask me about how to treat skin issues from mask wearing. Thankfully, I’ve got some tried-and-true tips to help get you through it.
So stay healthy, stay masked up, and let’s explore how to treat face mask skin problems.
Clean Masks Are Better For Your Skin
Hopefully, this goes without saying. But any list of tips for treating face mask skin problems must start with wearing clean masks.
By now, you likely have an assortment of reusable masks at home. Make sure you’re washing them in between each and every use. I know it’s a pain, but your skin will thank you.
I wear a clean (and purple!) mask every day.
It’s also a good idea to spritz your mask with rubbing alcohol, although for some people the smell of this can be too much.
Face Cleaning After Mask Use
It’s always important to keep your skin clean, and this is never more true than when you’re trying to treat skin issues from mask use.
In particular, I like to recommend the Oxygen Infusion WashFACE cleanser to help curb mask-related acne.
The Oxygen Infusion WashFACE features slow-releasing alpha hydroxy acids and infuses a burst of oxygen to purify, refresh and brighten your skin. It’s perfect for those with normal to oily skin, especially if you’re struggling with maskne and other similar issues.
Just be sure to also wear sunscreen when you use this product (see my favourite natural sunscreens with no white cast here).
And if you’d really like to double down on your face cleansing, I recommend using this (or any) face wash) with the QYKSonic ZOE Bliss Sonic Beauty Device. It delivers 7000 micro-pulsations per minute to cleanse, exfoliate, massage, and maximize skin care product penetration and absorption on a cellular level.
My clients swear by this combo. Be sure to drop by the clinic the next time you’re in downtown Vancouver to pick up yours!
Using An Enzyme Peel To Treat Mask Related Skin Issues
Once a week before bed, I also like to use Alumier’s Enzymatic Peel. It removes all those dead layers of skin, leaves me glowing. I can’t stop looking at my skin after using it!
This Enzymatic Peel is a highly effective exfoliator that combines 10% lactic acid with fruit enzymes to exfoliate dead skin cells and promote skin renewal, minimizing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration.
It also has aloe vera extract which calms the skin and soothes redness, while sodium hyaluronate and vitamin B5 hydrate and soften skin for a supple and radiant complexion. If you’d like to try it out, please contact us and we can help you make a purchase.
Best Treatments For Maskne And More
For anyone who is looking to do more to treat their mask-related skin issues, or for those who want to be more proactive about their skin in general, I have two go-to treatments I often recommend.
First, I love the carboxygel mask, which is fantastic for that extra special glow, because helps improve circulation and overall skin health. Learn more about needless carboxy therapy here.
Second, regular microneedling sessions can also help. We offer VIP membership programs to make these sessions more accessible.
Ultimately, if you’re worried about the effects of regular mask skin on your skin, you may want to talk with a specialist to figure out the best route for you. We’re conveniently located in downtown Vancouver, and we offer free consultations. Book yours now.
