Even Out Skin Tone Easily

Even Out Skin Tone Easily

Clear, even skin. We all want it, and with good reason. Not only is bright skin beautiful. It can also make you look younger and more vital. In fact, sometimes patients think they need fillers and Botox, when simply evening out their skin can help them achieve the anti-aging results they desire.

To even out skin tone, I recommend both carboxygel treatments, as well as the Even Tone Correcting Serum™ FACE from skinbetter science and the Alumier enzymatic peel. Especially when used together, these treatments and products can dramatically improve skin texture and brightness.

Please keep reading to learn why I recommend these treatments for evening out the skin.

What Is Uneven Skin Tone?

While you might think of uneven skin tone as a ‘know it when you see it’ problem, there are certain clinical indications doctors look out for when we treat this condition.

Ultimately, uneven skin tone can refer to texture issues, flushing, blotchiness or hyperpigmentation. Hyperpigmentation, in which the skin overproduces melanin, is often the main culprit.

One of the biggest causes of uneven skin tone is sun damage, which is why I hope you’re wearing sunscreen daily, even now that the weather has turned!

It can also be caused by other issues like acne, hormonal changes, skin damage, excessive oil production, and (you guessed it), aging. Note that certain medications typically taken by older individuals can also lead to hyperpigmentation (and thus uneven skin tone). Skin conditions like rosacea and dermatitis can also impact skin tone.

So that’s all the bad news. The good news? There’s lots we can do to improve your skin tone, both in our medspa clinic in downtown Vancouver, and at home.

Even Out Skin Tone At Home

Using the right products can help you even out skin tone at home.

In general, to even out skin tone you want well-formulated skin products with the right combination of acids and other ingredients to balance the skin.

My go-to is my beloved Even Tone Correcting Serum™ FACE from skinbetter science. It offers a ground-breaking non-retinol formula that delivers a visibly dramatic reduction in the appearance of hyperpigmentation.

This serum not only improves the appearance of brown patches, sun damage, hyperpigmentation and discoloration, but it also brightens the appearance of skin without the use of hydroquinone.

Improving the appearance of brown patches, sun damage, hyperpigmentation and discoloration, it also provides the following benefits.

the Alumier enzymatic peel

I also like to recommend the Alumier enzymatic peel for anyone struggling with uneven skin tone. It combines 10% lactic acid with fruit enzymes to exfoliate dead skin cells and promote skin renewal, minimizing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration.

Aloe vera extract calms the skin and soothes redness, while sodium hyaluronate and vitamin B5 hydrate and soften skin for a supple and radiant complexion.

More Lifestyle Changes To Treat Uneven Skin Tone

Like with everything related to our skin, the better you take care of your overall health, the better your skin will look. Eating a well balanced diet high in antioxidants and healthy fats, and exercising regularly (which improves blood flow to the skin) can go a long way to the radiant look you’re craving.

Always treat conditions like rosacea and acne, and be sure to follow a regular but gentle cleansing and moisturizing routine.

And it bears repeating: protect your skin from the sun! Avoid direct exposure when the sun is strongest, and always (always, always) wear good sunscreen, even when it’s cloudy and grey outside. See my favourite sunscreens here (no white cast, I promise).

Ultimately, the best way to even out skin tone is to consult with a doctor to determine your root causes and create a personalized plan of action. If you’re in Vancouver and would like to book a free consultation, please reach out now.
